Respeak ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Respeak Telegram bot or visit tryrespeak.com (collectively, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. The Service is operated from the United States.
1. Information we collect
When you use Respeak, we collect:
- Telegram account info: your Telegram user ID, first name, and username (if set). We do not access your phone number.
- Voice messages: the audio you send to the bot for translation.
- Language preferences: your selected source and target languages.
- Usage data: the number of voice messages you send per month, for billing and limits.
- Payment data: if you subscribe via Telegram Stars, we receive a payment confirmation from Telegram (we do not see your card or wallet details).
2. How we use your information
We use your information solely to provide the Service:
- Transcribe, translate, and re-synthesize your voice messages.
- Enforce monthly usage limits based on your plan.
- Process payments and activate subscriptions.
- Improve the quality of the Service (e.g., debug issues).
- Communicate with you about the Service when necessary.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your messages to train AI models.
3. Third-party services
To deliver the Service, we share necessary data with:
- OpenAI: we send your voice audio and text to OpenAI's APIs for transcription, translation, and speech synthesis. OpenAI processes this data per its Privacy Policy and does not retain it for model training when accessed via the API.
- Telegram: the Service runs on Telegram's platform, which is governed by Telegram's Privacy Policy.
- Railway and Netlify: our hosting providers, which process technical data (e.g., server logs) to deliver the Service.
4. Data retention
We retain:
- Voice audio: processed in real time and not stored after translation is delivered.
- Account info, usage counts, and payments: retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 7).
5. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database hosting, and access controls. However, no system is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's privacy
Respeak is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data.
- Withdraw consent at any time.

8. International users
Respeak is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
9. Cookies and analytics
The Respeak website (tryrespeak.com) uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site. Google Analytics sets cookies that collect anonymized information such as pages visited, time spent on the site, browser type, and approximate location (country / region). This data is processed by Google per its Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
